  1. Congress did not authorize strikes because it was Obama asking. It had nothing to do with the mood of the country. The sole reason we did not strike Syria then was that it was a Democrat asking for the authorization, and this was a way for the GOP, through Congress, to rebuff him. If/when Trump comes asking, the GOP will rise up in full-throated support. Don”t kid yourself about that. You will have a handful of house members and Senators who MAY object, but the vote will be almost entirely party line, and the GOP will support the President in starting yet another Mid-east war. Look at the way it is already being framed we have to go in and clean up a mess that Obama left. Trump tweeted it that way, you will hear it on AM radio and Fox & Friends for the rest of this week. Soon after, there will be a memo or fact-sheet circulated showing how all of the problems in Syria stem from Obama-era decisions, and the new administration needs to show Bold Leadership” and go fix them, and fix them now.
