Where my beautiful KD readers at? What’s popping your world this Wednesday. You already know how we start our Wednesday, but if you are here for the first time, then Karawa Diary wants to let you know that we start our Wednesday by naming our Woman Crush. The Woman Crush Wednesday column is to celebrate ladies that are creating impact in our society and the world at large so that it can inspire others to create same impact then we can change the world together.
Her family may know her as Ngala-Ndo Ashuembom Amabo born on March 18,1991 but to the world she is best known as Gasha with timless music that has earned her an award as best female artist for central Africa in 2015. After her debut with “Kaki Mbere” produced by DiJay Pazzo-a song she says was inspired by listening to old music as advised by her uncle one of which was Tracy Chapman’s, she gained national recognition.
Gasha was born in Douala to parents from the North West region and studied in the University of Buea under the Economics and Management Department. This 27 year old has inspired young people with her music and work on the “Women will change Africa” by collaborating with the Miss Africa USA pageant, her work with Magasco,Stanley Enow and her hit with Eddy Kenzo from Uganda. While in the states it was assumed she was done with music but her return in 2017 came with more soul and afropop music for the star who claims Daphne did not take anything away from her because they both own thrones.
It will be a lie to say that her art has not been an inspiration to young girls out there who aspire to run the music scene like she did and is still doing.
While we stay eager to see the more work Gasha will do to influence her national society positively using her celebrity status , we agree that for a humble lady with such unique talent which is seen through the art in her music we simply cannot help but crush.
